Dennis Kostka
Research Interests: My research revolves around computational genomics —
methodologically and applied. For instance, I am interested in identifying molecular pre-images of human specific
traits in the non-coding part of our genome. Other projects that I am involved in include the transcriptional profiling of
stem cells, the reconstruction of hierarchies from perturbation experiments and computational diagnostics with microarrays.
Short Vita: Before joining Katie Pollard's lab at UC Davis in August 2007 I worked first as a PhD student and
then as a postdoc at the Computational Molecular Biology Department of the Max Planck Institute for
Molecular Genetics in Berlin, Germany. I received my PhD in December 2006 from the Free University in Berlin,
and a Diploma (~Masters degree) in Physics from the University of Heidelberg in May 2002.
