TEXT: "Statistics for Economics, an intuitive approach", by Alan S. Caniglia. Note: this book is out of print but the book store will be printing copies.

LECTURE: I highly recommend attending as many lectures as possible. Even if you day-dream the whole time you may still get something out of it (by osmosis?). These lectures are designed to give you a expert/friendly narrative for the text. The lectures are scheduled for MWF, 11:00-11:50am, in 1002 Giedt.

FINAL EXAM: It is very important that you attend the final on Thursday, Dec 10, from 10:30am-12:30pm, given in class. In fact, you can't pass the course without taking the final (no makeup final). It counts towards approximately 35% of the course grade.

MIDTERM:  Given in class on Friday, Oct 30. Counts towards approximately 35% of course grade.

HOMEWORK:  There will be weekly homeworks (8 homeworks total) due on Wednesday's at the end of lecture. These will count towards approximately 30% of the course grade.

LABS: Each one of you should be registered for a lab section. Try to attend that section. However, in some cases, people need to attend another section. In general this is ok, just try to keep it at a minimum since we don't want to overload any particular section. These sections are designed to be problem solving sessions. The TAs will usually give a short "lecture" and then have time to answer questions and go over problems in the book.

GRADING: The final grade will be curved and will be based on the homeworks (~30%), the midterm (~35%) and the final (~35%). Note: you can't pass the course unless you take the final at the scheduled time.

EMAIL: Since the course is so large, please avoid sending me email directly, unless it's an emergency. If you have a question, either see me in person during office hours, or send your TA an email. If your TA thinks it's important enough, they will forward it to me.
